Meeting Place: The main Car Park as you drive through the gate on Taitua Rd (55 Taitua Road). Look out for the Auckland Beagle Club flag. Also take care as there are chickens running free all around and dogs must be on lead at all times.
Route: The walk is mostly flat with a few slight hills. It’s an easy walk with lots of shade and suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. There are toilets and drinking water beside the car park. The area is full of lovely mature trees and lakes with birdlife.
Directions:
From Auckland -
• Go Past Taupiri & then stay in the left lanes when approaching Hamilton, take the exit onto Mangaharakeke Drive / 1C (Signs Hamilton City)
• Then take the exit onto Koura Drive Exit (SH39 towards Raglan)
• Turn right onto Koura Drive
• At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Te Kowhai Road (SH39) towards Raglan
• Follow this road about 8.7kms, turn left onto Cemetery Road & at the end turn left onto Whatawhata Road
• Go about 2 Km & Turn Right onto Howden Road, then left onto Taitua Road after another 2km appox.
• The Arboretum is about ½ km along on the left.
Walk Time: Approximately 60 minutes.
On leash/Off leash: This is an on leash area at all times due to wildlife.
